Set atop the summit of the chained mountains of Gerhalta, Tembien, Atsbi and Taka Tesfai; the Rock-hewn churches of Tigray are one of the oldest rock carvings founded sometime during the 4th and 12th century AD, and numbering to 120 and more.
Though it takes power and energy not easily to access the churches by engaging yourself into hiking and climbing activities, but the final end grants you with an amazing and breathtaking panoramic view, which is combined with the ancient artifacts and history of the churches.
